Abstract:
In the modern world, the status of the state in the world community largely depends on the level of development and availability of information resources. However, neither in Russian legislation nor in numerous publications on the role of information resources in the country's economy is there a consensus on the interpretation of this term. The purpose of this article is to reveal the content and definition of the concept of "information resource" as an economic category that has a significant impact on the foreign policy, scientific and technical, socio-economic, and cultural conditions of the modern state. In the course of the research, the main approaches to the interpretation of the concept of "information resource" were identified, which allowed the author to formulate his definition and highlight the features that distinguish an information resource from other economic resources. The classification of information resources according to a number of essential features is proposed.
