Abstract:
The article examines approaches to assessing the innovative development level of the regions. We pay special attention to the methodology offered by the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). We outline strengths and weaknesses of methodological approaches, that, in the end, determine the priority of financial support and affect the development level of the region as a whole. On the basis of econometric models construction with the use of Russian regional data, we made an attempt to identify the factors that have the greatest impact on innovative development level of the region.
